OpenPlant PID Help

Open a Moved or Copied Drawing

A simplified workflow is implemented when attempting to reuse existing drawings in new design projects to ensure that the most appropriate action is taken. If you move or copy a drawing to a new Workset, the next time that drawing is opened in OpenPlant PID the application prompts you first with the Workset mismatch alert. For example,
As part of this workflow you may also be presented with the PlantSight Project Storage Discrepancy dialog if the associated PlantSight project differs from the one stored with the document. For example,

You can choose between the current WorkSet's configuration, continue to use the configuration stored with the document or work in offline mode disconnected from OpenPlant PID.

.

After confirming the PlantSight connection options, file is opened in OpenPlant PID and presents you with File conflict Resolution dialog. By default Add New Document and retain GUIDs option is selected.

  • Add New Document and retain GUIDs
If you have simply moved the drawing select this option and click confirm. A new document will added to PlantSight and all existing GUIDs will be retained. Click Confirm, the drawing will be opened in OpenPlant PID . For example,
  • Add New Document and create new GUIDs
If you disagree with the default option and want to choose this option, toggle on Enable all options using the toggle at the lower left of the dialog. A new document will added to PlantSight, all components will be updated with new GUIDs and existing page connectors will be unlinked. Click Confirm, the drawing will be opened in OpenPlant PID .
  • Rename Document
Choose this option to rename the document in PlantSight and all existing GUIDs will be retained. Click Confirm, the drawing will be opened in OpenPlant PID .
CAUTION: Enabling options other than the default one may not yield the desired result.

Copy workflow

If you have created a copy of PID document and defined a name to reuse that document in OpenPlant PID then application will assign unique GUID to all the components including copied document file as well.

Copy workflow will unlink all linked page connectors as well. It is because  page connector GUID will be updated when the drawing is copied.

For Example, pid document 1 have page connectors and component whose GUIDs can be seen as.
Now,pid document 1 has been copied and renamed as pid document 2 and loaded in OpenPlant PID. Notice that GUIDs for the page connector and component have changed and assigned a unique GUID to the copied document file.

So, in copy workflow, the application will assign unique GUID to drawing and components, including all the page connectors. The InstanceID property still shows the same value at the document level, but please notice that this is not the federation GUID of the document. Federation GUID can only be seen once a drawing will be pushed to PlantSight (iTwin).

When you click OK, the drawing will be loaded into OpenPlant PID but will not be connected to the database. You will need to reopen the drawing to associate the drawing.

Upon reopening, when the copied drawing is associated with the database, the drawing is synchronized and checked for duplicate tags. If duplicate tags are found, the following message displays:

Click OK to display the Model Validation dialog where you can fix the duplicate tag numbers and continue on to open the drawing.
